About Jay Pope
Jay Pope is the Founder and President of Pope Tech, a web accessibility platform that helps organizations create more accessible digital experiences. He previously worked at Utah State University as a Programmer/Analyst and earned his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the university. He began his career as a front-end web developer and later led a team responsible for hundreds of websites.
Jay believes web accessibility is a human right and allows the internet to reach its full potential for everyone. Organizations want their customers and users to be able to access their websites, sign up, apply, purchase, and engage with their content. Building websites with accessibility in mind helps ensure people with disabilities can access digital content, often using assistive technology.
His passion for web accessibility began unexpectedly while working at Utah State University. During a meeting, someone mentioned that an application Jay had built was accessible. He realized he didn’t even know what web accessibility meant, which led to his introduction to WebAIM, an accessibility organization on the Utah State campus.
Today, Jay helps organizations develop practical web accessibility strategies and simplify their efforts. He believes every organization can create and maintain inclusive, accessible websites. Outside of work, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
